Google Services - A Web Infrastructure
At a business networking meeting recently I partnered up with a business woman who told me, "I dont have any money to develop my website." In response I started this column on my website with articles some might find useful to assist in managing and developing your website presence.
This article is about Google Services. More articles can be followed from the menu on the right.

The most important 'free' tool kit currently available must be 'Google Services.'
If you are new to developing your web presence then understanding how google services can lay a solid foundation to professional website management is a must.
Google services are wide and varied; gmail, picassa, google earth... the list is long (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_services ) As your site grows so will the relevance of this tool kit
I start by setting up a a gmail account for my clients, this begins the cycle and lays a platform for communications that relate to the web infrastructure which underpins any well developed website.
This also becomes the login for a goolge account( https://www.google.com/accounts/Login ). When you have logged in and navigated to the main page you will see the 'services' you have signed up to.
There are four basic services that are required to complete the basic infrastructure, sign up to these and get them working.
- Web Master Tools http://www.google.com/webmasters/
- Google Analytics http://www.google.com/analytics/
- Local Business Center (Google Maps) https://www.google.com/local
- Google Adwords http://adwords.google.com/
Google offers plenty of help to get started with these and once established the results will begin to show. And here is the link to googles own advice for web development http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=35769.
